EVENTS THIS WEEK
Thursday 14th March
The iconic
musician Sting is performing at
the du Arena tonight, where he will play
many well-known hits from his solo career, plus classics from his
time as the front man of one of the world's most popular bands, The
Police.
The Abu Dhabi Irish Society's St.
Patrick's Day Ball is on tonight at the Emirates
Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This event will present the
best of Irish culture here on the sandy shores of Abu Dhabi. It
will be a jam-packed night of traditional Irish music and singing,
Irish dancing, dramatic performances, guest appearances and
bucket-loads of 'craic'! The highly successful
band Hermitage Green will also be flown
from Ireland to perform on the night.
For ballet fans, one of the finest ballet companies
in the world makes its debut appearance in the UAE with two
breathtaking performances this weekend to open the 10th anniversary
edition of the Abu Dhabi
Festivalat Emirates Palace.
The Mariinsky Ballet, straight from Saint
Petersburg in Russia, will amaze you with its incredible grace and
technique during their stunning performance.
Friday 15th
March
Immaculate Touch returns
to Al Maya Island for
their new season this Friday, featuring DJs Natalie
Brogan, Chad
Phunk, Stew Magoo
and Chris Delaney. With the infamous
illuminated I.T-BOT, stilt walkers, fire breathers and
dancers, there will be plenty to keep partygoers
entertained.
This Friday, a fresh slice of the UK's youngest new
talent arrives to play at Blue Marlin Ibiza
UAE, VICE London, who made their
mark in the underground of Ibiza last summer. With their deep house
and dark techno they arrive on the decks as a trio but play
as one. Expect a big taste of real cutting-edge music.
Skylite launch their
new Culture Club post brunch party
today, where resident DJ Anya will be playing 80s tunes. Skylite
will be decorated in neon décor, party favors, 80s attire, and
screens will be playing your favourite 80s music videos and
films.
Celebrate St. Patrick's
Day at P.J.'s with a
festive buffet, Irish music and dance, a contest for best "Paddy's"
dress with winners receiving valuable prizes. Enjoy live music by
resident band Sweet Chilli
Jam and DJ David Soto, as well
as Aboud the Fiddler who will delight
the crowds with traditional Irish tunes.
Also throwing a St. Patrick's
Day themed party this weekend is Le
Meridien, where you can enjoy a barbeque and beverages
like Guinness, Kilkenny, Jameson's and some more Irish creations
from the bar. Their resident DJ will play the crowd's
favourite music featuring hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and of course
the best of Irish.
Lebanese superstar and
celebrity Anwar El Amir will be
performing live at Sax Club tonight,
performing hits such as Estha'telloh, Kifo, Shoftak B'einy, Habib
Einaya and Bila Noum. Support from DJ Tony
White.
The new house series of events
at Rush continues tonight
withChampagne Pussykat where ladies will
receive complimentary Champagne all night, to the tunes
of Simon Kaye, Cliff
Townley and Rick Bonetti.

Sports City for the Punchline Comedy
Club. Starting out on the Hong Kong entertainment scene in
1994, the Punchline Comedy Club has been enthralling audiences with
top international comedians such as Michael McIntyre, Bill Bailey
and Russell Peters to name a few. Live performances have reached
major locations including Shanghai, Bangkok, Melbourne, Singapore,
Tokyo and Vietnam, and are now in the UAE. The Punchline Comedy
Club Middle East will feature three exciting comedians on its
premier line-up; Geoff Boyz, Jeremy O'Donnell and Karl
Spain.

A brand new night launches
at Rush tonight
with Theatro, the new weekly Saturday event
fusing together the best in Arabic and international hits. Every
table booked will receive a complimentary bottle of champagne to
join in the celebrations and ladies receive free drinks till
1am.
Sunday 17th
March
On St. Patrick's
Day, Skylite's
resident DJ Anya will be mixing the
tunes so you enjoy hits from Irish legends such as U2 and the
Cranberries as well as lively traditional Irish music. They're
offering two drinks for the price of one on selected Irish and
specially mixed green beverages to those people wearing a green
item of clothing.

Sax Club launches their new
weekly Tuesday Afterclass 'I Will Not Go
Home' event tonight, with buy one get one free drink
promotions from 7pm, and music by resident DJ
Roland.
Wednesday 20th
March
For classical music lovers, Plácido
Domingo, one of the Three Tenors,
performs tonight at Emirates Palace as
part of the Abu Dhabi Festival's 10th
anniversary celebrations. The legendary musician has
dominated the world of opera for more than three decades, appearing
in more roles than any other tenor in history, and has performed in
every major opera house in the world, including a record 20 times
at The Met.
